"Mer Haiyrenik" ("Our Fatherland") was adopted as the national anthem on July 1st, 1991.  The anthem is musically based on the anthem of the First Republic (1918-1921).  The lyrics are from a poem by the 19th century Armenian patriot and writer Mikhail Nalbandian (1829-1866), first set to music by the composer Barsegh Kanachian (1885-1967). more..

This country is one of the most wonderful places on earth! It’s a paradise for travelers – beautiful nature, historical heritage, pleasant climate, very nice and friendly people, good and healthy food, no crime – well, what else can I say?
