Hey there!! Let’s go to Sevan!

Sunday morning comes every week and it’s time to explore and experience something new. This time our car wheels headed to the north-eastern part of Armenia, Lake Sevan. One hour drive and SUNday morning is on the horizon.

How the life of a traveler looks like during the time of pandemic?

No international flights, no luggage around and boarding passes are available. The one and only choice is to go local and domestic. Here we go!

Sunday morning comes every week and it’s time to explore and experience something new. This time our car wheels headed to the north-eastern part of Armenia, Lake Sevan. One hour drive and SUNday morning is on the horizon.

We have no sea here in Armenia but our Sevan "plays the role", as it’s gigantic as a lake. Let’s check some interesting facts.

  • Armenians refer to Sevan as “Blue-Eyed Beauty” because blue and green are the colours which are always reflected in the water.
  • Together with Lake Van and Lake Urmia, Lake Sevan is one of the three great lakes of the Armenian Highlands during the times of the historic Armenian Kingdom known as Mets Hayq.
  • Lake Sevan has an altitude of about 1,900 m (6233 ft) above the sea level.
  • Being among the world’s largest high mountain, the freshwater lakes make Sevan an exceptional and remarkable phenomenon both in the region and in the world.

Our destination was Wishup shore for riding a speedboat on Sevan. Before we got onto the boat we enjoyed a typical white fish (Sig) BBQ with the locals around. Sig or siga is a type of common white fish that inhabits Sevan Lake. Its taste is undoubtedly finger licking.

Wishup shore is a perfect place for friends and families. You come, you rest, you eat, you meditate and you are ready for an exciting speedboat ride.

This type of speed boat is kind of a new product in Armenia brought by the Sky Club Armenia team. Armen, the founding director of the Club, is the real daredevil adding his personal touch to adventure tourism in Armenia. Go check what they offer as you might be willing to add it to your next journey. If you crave adrenaline they have for you tandem paragliding, jeep tour, wakeboarding, etc,.

This time our target was a speedboat ride. We were zigzagging on the water with friends. It took us an hour and a half. Never had we ever felt Sevan so deep together with the wind.

What a luxury to enjoy the nature around the lake from the small boat and the silence with the sound of water in the background.

In 2020, we are living in the perfect time to explore our own countries and find out new, less known attractions, corners, food and anything to feed our wanderlust for a while.

This time when the world seems to have stopped for a while, when you are close to the nature and breathe the fresh air all the problems seem to be small, not enough to bother mother nature.

Here we are back to the shore. Time to meet the sunset with a cup of hot coffee or tea, equipped with a camera. Let’s do one-two shots and the rest is kept only for the eyes.

Speaking of nature one remembers Albert Einstein and his wisdom:

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”

Go wild, talk to nature.
