Ecotourism Festival 2018
Festivals and Events
On June 23-24, Armenia will celebrate the annual ecotourism festival, organized since 2016. Vayots Dzor region, where the festival will take place, will be rich in food, sports and its essential - raw nature. The atmosphere will be eco-friendly only.
Due to Armenia's green nature, tourists can enjoy ecotourism here all around the year. However, as there cannot be a festival all around the year, the Ecotourism festival is organized on June 23-24, when the weather in Armenia is just perfect – neither too hot, nor cold.
The festival's central hub is going to be Artavan, Vayots Dzor Province. It is not a secret that the best ecotourism spots around the world are the villages that are “hidden” and “not heard of”. It is here that the air is pure and the nature is untouched. Hence, the food, fruits, vegetables, and meat, are of high quality and of delicious taste.
Gomk and Martiros villages, near Artavan, are going to host the activities of the festival. The purpose is promote ecotourism to these very spots of Armenia and raise public awareness about ecotourism in general.
There will be a lot of fun activities as part of the festival on June 23-24. Besides the open air fare of local food and an exhibition, there will be a “Regional Cycling Cup” competition, amateur competition of mountain climbing and training. The spectrum of the festival activities is really wide. In the evenings, visitors may enjoy guitar performances, a photo-exhibition of the Republic of Armenia Red Book plants and animals, trainings in the campsite, horseback riding, butterfly and bird watching tours, morning yoga, and more. In short, there will be a heaven waiting for an ecotourism lover in Vayots Dzor.
Do not miss the opportunity to experience this “100% eco-friendly” festival, on June 23-24, in Artavan, Vayots Dzor. Being close to nature and experiencing so much fun in one place is a chance not to miss.
Last but not least, the organizers of this festival are the Association of Young Biologists and the Jermuk Development Center with the support of the Rufford Foundation and within the frameworks of the grant projects given to NGOs by the RA Government and competitions announced by the Youth Foundation of Armenia.
We hope to see you in the festival to enjoy the local food, go hiking and riding, and making unforgettable memories. Wherever you are, Armenia is just one step away. People and places you will go, festivals you will visit will take a special place at your heart.
