Hovhannes Tumanyan Historic House Museum, Dsegh

Museum

The birthplace of widely loved Armenian poet, Hovhannes Tumanyan, in the village of Dsegh, turned into a Historic House Museum in 1939.

Almost 300 valuable objects representing the daily activities and life of the great writer Hovhannes Tumanyan (1869-1923) are preserved here. The bust of the poet (sculpted by A. Urartu, in 1953) can be found in the yard, and the heart of the poet has been preserved in a chapel built in the yard in 1994. The Historic House Museum and exhibition were renovated with financial assistance from diasporan Armenians Mr. Guntakchian and his wife Mrs. Puchikyan.

Regardless of its location, the magnetic force of the outstanding poet, prose writer, and national figure attracts many visitors to the museum. Anniversaries pertinent to the poet, great celebrations and the annual Tumanyan Day are all organized in this museum
