Armenian Christmas Eve

The 5th of January is Christmas Eve in Armenia, as we celebrate Christmas on the 6th of January. Armenians go to church and light candles, after which they prepare everything for the feast. As the first country to adopt Christianity in the world, Christmas is an important holiday in Armenia. Unlike the New Year, which is a more festive and commercial holiday, Christmas takes a large place in Armenian families. It is a time of sharing, first during Mass and then during the feast, that brings the whole family together in a festive and more religious atmosphere than the New Year. Armenians don't offer presents and gifts during the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, they prefer to do it during the New Year celebration, to focus more on the family moment and religious celebration on Christmas.
