On the 5th of July 1995, Armenia adopted the post-Soviet constitution. The constitution established Armenia as a democratic, sovereign, social, and constitutional state with Yerevan defined as the state's capital. Armenia's Constitution Day and the Day of the State Symbols (Flag, Emblem, and Anthem) are both observed on the same day. The upper red stripe, the middle blue stripe, and the lower orange stripe make up the three equal horizontal stripes that make up the Armenian flag. The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia contains the official definition of color. According to the article, the colors red, blue, and orange signify the Armenian Highlands and the people's struggle for existence, the will of the Armenian people to live in peace, and the creativity and tenacity of the Armenian people.
