In 2008, the "Areni" Festival" Foundation initiated this event, helping to restore the old winemaking traditions typical of that region. The purpose of the festival was to promote event tourism in Armenia, as well as to make the Vayots Dzor region known abroad as a winemaking center. Visitors to the event have the opportunity to try various wines, learn from the producers about the characteristics of their drinks, as well as attend the grape pressing ceremony, which is the symbol of the winemaking.
