New Year's Day

Contrary to the other part of the world, Armenian children receive their presents on the morning of the 1st of January. The legend says that Kaghand Papa or Mets Papuk (Santa Claus) brings the presents during the night of the 31st of December. 

The legend also wants Armenians to light a candle in their house during this night to keep warmth and kindness in their home. Stroll through the capital and discover the different Christmas markets throughout the city: from Republic square to Seasons Park and their beautiful luminous Christmas tree, you will be amazed. For the people who want to have more peaceful time, you can also go outside the city for a break and visit Tsaghkadzor, Dilijan or Stepanavan in a cozy resort.
