In 1982, the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) established World Heritage Day to promote the preservation of monuments, historical sites, and the rich cultural heritage they represent.

In Armenia, this day is a celebration of the nation’s rich history and cultural treasures. Explore fascinating museums such as the Matenadaran, home to ancient manuscripts; the Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, dedicated to the country’s literary icon; the Martiros Saryan House-Museum, showcasing the works of the renowned painter; and the Megerian Carpet Museum, where centuries-old carpet-weaving traditions come alive.

Venture further to discover Armenia’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the awe-inspiring monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin, the sacred Etchmiadzin Cathedral, and the stunning Geghard Monastery, partially carved into the rock and surrounded by dramatic cliffs. On World Heritage Day, immerse yourself in the timeless wonders of Armenia’s past and celebrate its enduring contributions to global culture.
