Areni Wine Festival (October 3)

The Areni Wine Festival in 2026 will on October 3 in the village of Areni, located in the Vayots Dzor region — the cradle of Armenian winemaking.

Areni is renowned as the birthplace of viticulture, where for centuries, local residents have cultivated grapes and produced wine, preserving traditions passed down through generations. Nearly every household has created ideal conditions in their homes and gardens for winemaking, making Areni a living testament to Armenia’s millennia-old wine culture.

The festival aims to introduce the world to Armenia’s 6,100-year winemaking heritage, positioning Areni and the country on the international wine map. It showcases Armenia not only as a leader in winemaking but also as an attractive tourist destination and a key stop on the global wine route.

Over the years, the festival has significantly boosted wine tourism and contributed to the economic growth of the community. New wineries have been established, gastro-yards have increased, and the quality of grape varieties continues to improve. During the past 15 years, the village has welcomed 18 new guesthouses and five home-based restaurants, while the number of family winemakers has grown by approximately 130.

This unique celebration serves as a powerful platform for community development, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism, sharing the story of Armenian wine with the world.
